![]() | Bimal Dharmasena - Associate. Bimal first worked for the BBC, and the BBC Trust, before joining the Centre for Policy Studies (CPS). At the CPS Bimal worked on a range of subjects, including fiscal policy, financial markets, regulation, and economic growth. He also co-authored Conditions for Growth: What government can do to promote long-term growth. This wide-ranging study considers a range of policies, particularly on the supply side, that could materially improve the rate of growth of the productive potential of the UK economy. Bimal’s most recent work has been on the euro area, focussing on the anatomy of the crisis, and the dynamics of debt. Bimal holds a first class honours degree in Economics from the University of Southampton and an MSc with distinction from the London School of Economics (LSE). |

Previously, Sandra was a Senior Economist at Barclays Wealth, for three years. Her primary responsibility was the euro area, but she was also responsible for analysing global economic developments and the implications for investment, and presenting to internal and external clients, including the broadcast media. Brigid Janssen - Associate. Brigid is a seasoned communicator and strategist, serving as communications chief for the Bank of Canada during the period of global crisis, and directing communications for three international financial institutions - the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London, the OECD in Paris and the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank in Washington. She began her career as an economist in the Canadian public service before turning to journalism as Paris bureau chief for United Press International and then running her own Paris-based freelance reporting business. She is currently consulting for the IMF and others, and provides strategic communications guidance within the Llewellyn Consulting team. |

This followed 17 years at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris, where variously he was Head of International Forecasting and Policy Analysis, editor of the OECD Economic Outlook, Deputy Director for Social Affairs, Manpower and Education, and finally Chef de Cabinet to the Secretary-General. Prior to that he was nearly ten years at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Cambridge, and he was also a Fellow of St. John’s College. In 1974 he was appointed Assistant Director of Research in the Faculty of Economics. He received his undergraduate degree at the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, and his doctorate at the University of Oxford. He has published widely. |

Preston has a BA and an MSc (Maitrise Sc. Ec.) in Economics with French from the University of Sussex and the University of Grenoble, and an MBA from Imperial College London. |

An experienced macroeconomist and applied economic researcher, with a career spanning 28 years at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (the OECD) and, previously, 12 years as economic adviser at H.M. Treasury and the Departments of Trade and Industry. At the OECD he was head of division responsible for short, medium and longer-term global assessments and policy studies, economic modelling, data base management and systems development in support of the OECD Economic Outlook. He has jointly authored a variety of macro-structural policy studies on topics including: international trade, globalisation, population ageing, inflation, structural unemployment, supply-side economic potential and economic models. Pete’s recent consultancy activities include advisory work on modelling, forecasting systems development and presentation material at the OECD and ADB. Pete was educated at London University, Queen Mary and the London School of Economics, specialising in economic theory, policy and applied econometric methods. He is fluent in English and French. |

Previously, Camille worked for Barclays Wealth, where her main focus was the euro area, producing analysis and forecasts of the region’s main economic, policy and market developments. Before that, she worked as a policy economist at Lehman Brothers, covering a wide range of subjects, including climate change, population ageing, global macroeconomic issues and the financial crisis. Camille has worked on a number of long-term studies, and co-authored The Business of Climate Change, The Business of Climate Change II and The Business of Ageing. Camille graduated from HEC Paris, and holds an MSc in Economic Analysis and Policy from the Paris School of Economics. (Camille is currently on maternity leave) |
